Sushi Ichijo opened in November 2015 on a back street of Higashi‑Nihonbashi, three minutes on foot from Bakuro‑yokoyama Station. Its owner‑chef, Satoshi Ichijo, trained at a well‑known old sushi house in neighboring Ningyocho, and the counter he built carries that inheritance plainly: orthodox Edomae sushi, eight seats, nothing staged beyond the work itself. Tabelog named it to its Sushi Tokyo Hyakumeiten — the site’s list of the city’s hundred leading sushi counters — in 2021 and 2022. It holds One MICHELIN Star (MICHELIN Guide Japan 2026).
What you eat
An omakase built on wild fish from Japanese waters. The chef goes to the market himself and chooses what he judges best that day, so the sequence changes with the catch. Dinner moves from tsumami — small seasonal dishes — into nigiri, and costs ¥38,500 with tax included. Lunch is served as well, but the published lunch prices disagree from one listing to the next; it is the one figure to confirm when you book.
The booking reality
Booking here is ordinary — no release day, no lottery. The phone (03‑6661‑1335) is answered in Japanese, with no published hours; online, the plans sit on Ikyu and Tabelog, both Japanese‑only. Diners in 2026 describe reserving about a month out, and reviews mention a strong core of regulars at just eight seats, so give it that lead time. The closing days are listed differently: Tabelog says Wednesdays, Sundays and the day before national holidays, Ikyu only Wednesdays — plan around the stricter list. Through Ikyu, a same‑day cancellation or change is charged in full.
What the booking sites cannot handle is the conversation: the start time that suits your evening, an allergy or a fish someone cannot eat, raised before the chef buys for the day. Those are settled in Japanese, on that phone line — which is the call our desk makes.
Want a serious Edomae counter that books inside a normal planning window — or you have missed out on Tokyo’s most contested sushi bars and want classic Edomae craft without the reservation scramble.

Sushi Ichijo: common questions
Can you book Sushi Ichijo from abroad?
Yes, through our Tokyo desk. By phone in Japanese (03-6661-1335), or online through Ikyu or Tabelog — both Japanese-language sites. No release day; diners in 2026 report booking about a month ahead. We call the restaurant for you, in Japanese, and the ¥6,000-per-seat fee is charged only if we confirm your table — no seat, no fee.
