Who answers the phone
SHOKU NOREN is a reservation desk in Tokyo. We call the restaurants that answer only in Japanese, only by phone, and often only for people they know — and we hold the line so you don’t have to.

Why a desk in Tokyo
A large share of Japan’s best counters release seats by telephone, in Japanese, during a short window on a set day — and give them to callers the house can trust. That door does not open from abroad. Our desk sits inside the Tokyo restaurant trade: we know which line to call, at what minute, and how to speak to the person who answers. We publish the rules we work by in the booking calendar so you can see the door before you ask us to open it.
How we work
- We take your request with a registered card and search until the last date you asked for.
- The moment a seat opens we secure it, confirm it in writing in your language, and charge the booking fee at that point.
- Where a house charges a non-refundable fee from the moment of booking, we check with you before securing the seat.
- We never arrange paid transport or lodging, and we never claim to book houses that refuse intermediaries — we tell you plainly and prepare you to call yourself.
How we check what we publish
Every profile, guide and calendar entry is checked against official notices and platform listings and re-verified monthly. Where a fact cannot be verified we say so rather than guess. Read the full editorial policy.
