About this house
Eight counter seats in a renovated family house of more than 70 years in residential Noma (tatami floor, shoes off), one omakase course, bookings from one guest. The chef opened on 20 November 2024 after six years of Japanese cooking in Kanazawa and seven at Kikuzushi in Kasuga, latterly as second.

How do I book Funakoshi from abroad?
Funakoshi takes reservations by phone in Japanese only. Phone line: 092-541-3533, Japanese; dinner Mon–Sat 18:00–22:00, lunch Wed, Fri, Sat 12:00–15:00; closed Sun. From abroad, either call at those hours or have a Japanese speaker call for you. If you would rather not, our Tokyo desk can request it for you: ¥6,000 per seat, charged only if the table is secured. A free release-date alert emails you the day before, on the morning of release day (08:00 JST) and about 30 minutes before when the opening time is known; houses that open a little every day come in a weekly summary.
