Ayu Jun–Aug, matsutake mid-Sep–early Nov, bear tsukinabe mid-Nov–Mar, sansai and hanazansho Apr–mid-May. Winter bear dates are a redial race; summer ayu is the gentler door (Aug 2026 bookings were still available a month out).

Hira Sanso takes reservations by phone in Japanese only. Phone line: From 10:00 on release day (077-599-2058, Japanese); lunch from 11:30 (last entry 12:30), dinner from 17:00 (last entry 18:30); closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays (in April and October only, Wednesdays open on alternate weeks). From abroad, either call at those hours or have a Japanese speaker call for you. If you would rather not, our Tokyo desk can request it for you: ¥6,000 per seat, charged only if the table is secured.
