How to use Members

Seven habits that turn release alerts into tables. Ten minutes to read; a season of dinners to enjoy.

  1. 1

    Save the houses you want

On any house page, press Follow this house (or 🔔 Remind me); on the booking calendar, tap ☆ or 🔔. For houses that open on a set date you get an email the day before, on the morning of release day (08:00 JST) and about 30 minutes before when the opening time is known, with the time in Japan and in your own time zone; houses that open a little every day come in a weekly summary. Save the backups too — the second choice is often the one that lands.

  2. 2

    Add your trip dates

On your account page, add the dates you'll be in Japan. The month view then highlights the releases that matter for your stay, and for houses with rolling windows it shows the exact day your visit date opens.

  3. 3

Read the house page before you plan

Each house shows the booking channel, difficulty, the release rule, phone-line hours, and fallback houses. Read the fallback houses first — a plan with two backups succeeds far more often than one with none.

  4. 4

    Prepare the week before

Check what the channel needs: a phone that can dial Japan, a platform account (OMAKASE, TableCheck, Ikyu), sometimes a Japanese phone number for SMS. Set an alarm for the release hour in your time zone. Decide party size and three dates before you dial.

  5. 5

On release day, be early and persistent

Call at the exact minute the line opens. State the date, the party size, and one alternative. If it's engaged, redial — many houses fill within an hour, so keep going for the full window. If it's full, ask about cancellations and try your backup house.

  6. 6

If it doesn't land, let the desk try

Ask the desk to request the table: ¥6,000 per seat at a house in our collection, ¥12,000 per seat elsewhere, charged only when the seat is secured. Withdraw any time before that, free. The desk works the same phone lines — from Tokyo, in Japanese, with redials.

  7. 7

    Help keep it accurate

Every page shows when it was last verified. If a house tells you something different, use Report an error on that page; we re-check within the week and update the page for everyone.
